Are you seeing keyword searches that do not match your profile. Maybe you are seeing the United Kingdom yet you are located in the United States or you are seeing Authorized trainer when you only offer training on your solutions.
Creative Keyword Placement
Looking at the statistics we have gathered for site searches we noticed a few companies appearing outside their geographical locations and decided to investigate. One of these companies, 360Works, stood out and we looked more closely at their profile (www.findfilemakerdevelopers.com/360works). 360Works is located in Atlanta, GA with an office in San Francisco, CA. However their profile was appearing in searches for Seattle and Portland. Upon closer inspection we noticed Jesse had written in his personal bio about speaking at several FMPug chapters.
This caused the 360Works profile to appear in these locations, giving them some extra exposure to those searching.
How the search works
A visitor searches for "United Kingdom". The search engine sees the multiple words and performs an "or" search locating profiles featuring either word. When the results page is returned it sees that their are several profiles with the term "United Kingdom" in the location. Through our smart categorization feature these profiles are listed first based on location, with all other profiles featuring one or more of the words somewhere in the profile being listed second.
If the term is one of our featured skills then the profiles that have the skill selected (for example Authorized Trainer) will be featured first based on skill and again all other profiles featuring one or more of the words somewhere in the profile being listed second.
By matching search terms based on location and skills we guarantee to get you the most exposure for your profiles while maintaining the relevance of the search term.
Use this feature to your advantage by use of creative keyword placement in your company or individual bio.
